HMCM Mike Stewart

HMCS(FMF/SS/SW) Mike Stewart was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended school at Sherwood High School in Creighton, Missouri where he graduated in 2005. He arrived at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois for Navy Basic Training on July 7th, 2005. After graduating from Navy Boot Camp in September 2005, he attended Hospital Corpsman “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois from September 2005 to December 2005.

 

In May 2006, he graduated from Field Medical Service School in Camp Johnson, North Carolina and reported to the Fightin’ 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division from May 2006 until June 2008. During his time with 6th Marines, he deployed with Regimental Combat Team 6 to Fallujah, Iraq from January 2007 to February 2008, serving with Archangel Explosive Ordnance Disposal Security and earning his Fleet Marine Force Warfare Insignia.

 

After a brief tour at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego and Navy Operational Support Center, Kansas City, HM2 Stewart reported to 2d Medical Battalion in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as Platoon Sergeant in Alpha Surgical Company. While assigned to 2d Medical Battalion, he attended the Army Flight Medic Course in Fort Rucker, Alabama and deployed to Forward Operating Base Edinburgh in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as the Shock Trauma Platoon Leading Petty Officer and en-route care corpsman.

 

In March 2012, HM2 Stewart reported to Submarine Independent Duty Corpsman School in Groton, Connecticut where he graduated as the Honor Graduate for Class 240 and was meritoriously promoted to HM1. He was subsequently assigned as the Senior Medical Department Representative on USS NORFOLK (SSN 714) in Norfolk, Virginia, where he conducted multiple local operations and deployed to the Central Command Area of Responsibility conducting submarine operations and earned his enlisted submarine dolphins. In January 2015, the NORFOLK conducted a change of homeport to Portsmouth, New Hampshire to decommission the submarine.

 

In November 2015, HM1 Stewart reported to Naval Undersea Medical Institute in Groton, Connecticut where he was selected and initiated to Chief Petty Officer and served as Submarine IDC School Instructor, Radiation Health Department LCPO and Undersea Medical Officer Candidate Course LCPO and was certified as a Master Training Specialist.

 

In March 2019, HMC Stewart reported to USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC 20) in Gaeta, Italy, where he served as Independent Duty Corpsman, Senior Medical Department Representative and Executive Department LCPO. While on MOUNT WHITNEY, he conducted multiple exercises in the Baltic, Black North, and Mediterranean seas and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist insignia. He was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer in September 2019.

 

In June 2021, Senior Chief Stewart reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 2 as the Regimental Navy Senior Enlisted Leader. In July 2023, he reported to 2d Medical Battalion where he serves as the interim Command Master Chief.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (5), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (5), and various unit awards. Senior Chief Stewart is married to the former Megan Mobley of Richlands, North Carolina. Together they have two children; Aubrie (11) and Lucas (9).
