Sergeant Major Jeffrey R. Perry

Sergeant Major Perry is a native of Plainfield, New Jersey.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in February 2001 and reported to Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  Upon graduation, he reported to Marine Detachment Fort Lenard Wood, Missouri, where he attended Motor Transportation Operators Course (MOS 3531/3533/3536).  In July 2001, Private Perry received orders to Camp Barrett, The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia.

While assigned to The Basic School, he filled the position of Motor Transport Operator.  In 2002, Lance Corporal Perry received orders to Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan. While assigned to Truck Company, he participated in exercises in Korea, Thailand, Philippines, and Camp Fuji, Japan.  He also deployed with the 31st MEU, attached to 12th Marine Regiment.  He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal in March 2003.

In December 2003, Corporal Perry received orders to the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina.  While there he served as a Motor Transport Operator, Dispatcher, Ammo/Explosive driver, and Squad Leader.  In February 2005 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

In March 2005, Sergeant Perry received orders to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as Motor Transport Operator, Chief Dispatcher, and Squad Leader.  In August 2005 Sergeant Perry deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Upon his return he assumed the position of Platoon Sergeant and deployed again to Iraq in January 2007.  He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in December 2008.

In December 2008, Staff Sergeant Perry received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 24, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  While there he served as Motor Transportation Operations Chief as well as the Landing Support sections SNCOIC.  Staff Sergeant Perry deployed with the 24th MEU in February 2009, during that deployment he supported humanitarian operations in Haiti.  In January 2011 he deployed again with the 24th MEU serving as Motor Transportation Operations Chief and Assistant Battalion Operations Chief.

In June 2013, Staff Sergeant Perry received orders to MWSS-273, Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, South Carolina.  In November 2013 he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and served as the Motor Transportation Company Operations Chief and Company First Sergeant.

In October 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Perry received orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 15, Camp Pendleton, California and served as the Headquarters Company Gunnery Sergeant.  He was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in February 2017.  

In March 2017, First Sergeant Perry received orders to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, Camp Pendleton, California.  There he served as Company C First Sergeant and deployed with the 31st MEU in November of 2017.  Upon his return from deployment First Sergeant Perry received orders to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

In September 2018, First Sergeant Perry reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion and served as a Company First Sergeant with Charlie Company, Engineer Support Company, and Bulk Fuel Company. 

In November 2021 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and assumed the position as the 8th Engineer Support Battalion Sergeant Major. 

In January 2022, he assumed his current position as the Sergeant Major of Combat Logistics Battalion 6.

Sergeant Major Perry’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four gold stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
