Col Gary F. Keim

Colonel Keim graduated from Villanova University and was commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Course in May 1989. He graduated The Basic School in November of 1989 and was designated a Logistics Officer.

Col Keim was assigned to 1ST Battalion, 9TH Marines, where he served as the Maintenance Management Officer (MMO), S4A, and ultimately the S-4. He deployed with 15TH MEU(SOC) and participated in Operation Fiery Vigil and Operation Desert Storm. Upon return from deployment, Col Keim was assigned to

11TH Marine Regiment where he served as the Regimental MMO. Col Keim was augmented into the Active Component during his time with 11TH Marines and was ordered to 2ND Radio Battalion as the S-4. During his time with 2ND RadBn, Col Keim was promoted to Captain and ordered to Camp Fuji, Japan where he served as the S-4 until July 1997. Upon completion of his tour aboard Camp Fuji, Col Keim attended the Combined Logistics Officers Advanced Course aboard Ft Lee and Ft Eustis, VA graduating in Feb 1998 and receiving orders to the 2ND Marine Aircraft Wing.

Col Keim was assigned to the 2ND MAW as the G-4 OpsO where he remained until June of 1999 when he was promoted to Major. Upon promotion, Col Keim was assigned as the Marine Air Control Group 28 S-4. After his tour as the Group S-4, Col Keim was assigned as the XO for the Logistics Operations School aboard Camp Johnson. During his tour at LOS, Col Keim was selected for the Marine Corps Command and Staff resident course and reported to Quantico in June 2002.

While attending Command and Staff, Col Keim was deployed as an Individual Augment to Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Strategic Mobility Officer for Combined Joint Task Force-Consequence Management. Upon his redeployment, Col Keim was assigned to HQMC, Plans, Policy, & Operations where he served as a watch officer, current operations briefer, and ultimately the head of the Current Operations section within the Operations directorate.

While assigned to PP&O, Col Keim was sourced as an IA to Operation Enduring Freedom as the C-4 for Combined Forces Command Afghanistan and promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on 1 June 2005.

In July of 2006, Col Keim was ordered to the 2ND Marine Division where he served as the Deputy G-4 until deploying with II Marine Expeditionary Force Forward in support of OIF 06-08 in January 2007. Col Keim was assigned as the MAGTF Distribution Officer and Officer-in-Charge of the MAGTF Deployment Distribution Operations Center. Upon return from OIF in February 2008, Col Keim transferred to the 2ND Marine Logistics Group for assignment as CO, Combat Logistics Battalion-22 deploying with the 22D MEU and again to Operation Unified Response Haiti. Upon his change of command, 1 April 2010, Col Keim was assigned as XO, Combat Logistics Regiment – 27 (CLR-27) and subsequently Commanding Officer, CLR-27 Force Generation Element from 1 Dec 2010 to 3 Oct 2011. In October 2011 Col Keim reported to the Naval War College, Newport, RI for top level school graduating with a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies in Nov 2012.

In December 2012 he assumed command of Combat Logistics Regiment-27, 2ND Marine Logistics Group relinquishing command in September 2015. He served as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-4 from September 2015 through May 2016 and assumed his current assignment as Chief of Staff, 2ND Marine Logistics Group in June 2016.

Col Keim’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with four gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
