Lance Cpl. Matthew Kirkman, a radio technician with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, is the newest member of the 2nd MLG Color Guard and serves as a rifle bearer. Kirkman jumped at the opportunity to become a member of the team, because it allows him to represent the Marine Corps in ceremonies and parades up and down the eastern seaboard. Michael Tomlinson, from Keene, Texas, the chaplain for 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward), gave the invocation during a cake cutting ceremony in commemoration of the 113th birthday of the hospital corps aboard Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, June 17, 2011.
