Sutton relinquishes command of CLB-24

21 Jan 2011 | Pfc. Franklin E. Mercado

Lt. Col. Scott D. Sutton relinquished command of Combat Logistics Battalion 24 to Lt. Col. Daniel J. Bradley in a ceremony at Marston Pavilion aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Jan. 21.

Dozens of family and friends crowded the room to watch as Sutton’s two-year tour as the battalion’s commander came to an end and another began.

“I had a great time here,” said Sutton. “I am jealous of Bradley and his wife. I know they’ll have a great time as well.”

As Sutton continued his speech, he acknowledged many of the people in the audience who helped him arrive at this point of his career. Sutton concluded his speech by thanking the friends and families of all the Marines in attendance.

“Without you this wouldn’t be possible,” he said. “We do what we do because of you.”

As Sutton took his seat and Bradley made his way to the center of the room, the crowd of approximately 40 people embraced him with a welcoming applause.

“Thank you everyone for attending,” he said. “Replacing (Sutton) will not be an easy task.”

During his speech Bradley also took the time to thank Sutton, his wife and everyone who came to the ceremony to watch the changing of the guard.

“Everyone has been very helpful in the past week,” said Bradley. “They’ve made the transitional easy for us.”

Bradley went on to say that he’s looking forward to the time he will be spending as the battalion commander. As the ceremony drew to a close, everyone congratulated both of the Marines as they embarked on separate journeys in their careers.
