Commanding Officer, 2d Transportation Battalion
Lieutenant Colonel Randall D. White

Lieutenant Colonel White is currently serving as the Commanding officer of 2d Transportation Battalion (2d TB).

Randy White was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps on May 11, 2002 after graduating from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. His formal military education includes; The Basic School (2003), Logistics Officers Course (2003), Expeditionary Warfare School (resident, 2011), Basic Airborne (2011), Marine Corps Command and Staff College (non-resident, 2014), Naval Command and Staff College (resident, 2015), and the Intermediate Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Logistics Operations Course (IMLOC)(2015). Lieutenant Colonel White has a Master of Arts degree in Emergency and Disaster Management (2012) from American Military University and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies (2015) from the US Naval War College.

In October 2003, Second Lieutenant White transferred to 1st Transportation Support Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group (FSSG), I Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton, California. From February-September 2004 he deployed with Combat Service Support Battalion-1 as the Current Operations/Watch Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). He was promoted to First Lieutenant in May of 2004. From August 2005 to March 2006 he deployed again to OIF as a Motor Transport Platoon Commander attached to Combat Logistics Regiment-25. From March-August 2006 he served as the Combat Logistics Battalion-1 Assistant Operations Officer. In August 2006 he was frocked to Captain and served as the Officer in Charge (OIC) of Combat Logistics Battalion-1 (rear), and the Combat Logistics Regiment-1 Operations Officer and Executive Officer.

In December 2006, Captain White transferred to the 2d Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He served with the G-4 staff and deployed again to OIF from February 2007 to February 2008 as the Multi National Force-West (MNF-W) G-4 Iraqi Security Force Logistics Operations Officer.

Upon return from his third tour in Iraq he became a plank holder of 3d Battalion, 9th Marines and serving as the S-4 Officer and initial Headquarters and Service (H&S) Company Commander. Captain White deployed in support of OIF 09-2 from August-October 2009.

In July 2011, Captain White transferred to the Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group (MCSCG) at Fort Story, Virginia. While there he held billets in the Security Assistance/International Programs branch and the European Coordination Liaison Assessment and Training Team (CLATT). From August 2012 to March 2013, he deployed to the Republic of Georgia as the Georgian Deployment Program – International Security Assistance Force (GDP-ISAF) Georgia Training Team (GTT) deputy OIC providing pre-deployment training for rotations 8 & 9 of Georgian light infantry battalions supporting operations in Afghanistan. He was promoted to Major in August of 2013 and took over the duties of MCSCG’s Current Operations Officer until July 2014.

In July 2015 Major White transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion-31 (CLB-31), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), III Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. He served as the CLB-31 Operations Officer for four MEU deployments.

In August 2017, Major White transferred to Headquarters Marine Corps, Plans, Policy, and Operations (PP&O), Expeditionary Policy Branch, Prepositioning Section (POE-40) at the Pentagon as the Maritime Prepositioning Force Officer. From May 2018 until June 2019 Major White executed the duties of the Aid-de-Camp for the Deputy Commandant, Plans, Policies, and Operations, HQMC. Upon promotion in June 2019, Lieutenant Colonel White returned to the Expeditionary Policies Branch as the MAGTF Policy and Operations Section Head (POE-30).

Lieutenant Colonel White’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy Commendation Medal with (2) gold stars, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with (1) silver star and (1) bronze star.
