Maj. David Murray graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and received his commission through Platoon Leaders Class. He attended The Basic School, Quantico, VA from 2008 to 2009 and obtained the Armor Officer Military Occupational Specialty.
As a company grade officer, his operational assignments include: Route Clearance Platoon Commander, 3d Combat Engineer Battalion (Operation Enduring Freedom 10.1), Tank Platoon Commander, 1st Tank Battalion (Operation Enduring Freedom 12.1), Bravo Company Commander, 1st Tank Battalion, and Ground Liaison Officer, Joint United States Military Assistance Group – Philippines.
His supporting Establishment tours includes: Series and Company Commander, 3d Recruit Training Battalion; Officer in Charge, MCAGCC Fabrication Lab; and Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar Instructor, Okinawa Regional Campus, Marine Corps University.
Major Murray’s military education includes: Armor Basic Officer Leaders Course, Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program, Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, Command and Staff Distance Education Program, and Combat Engineer Officers Course.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars and combat distinguishing device, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Major Murray is married to Major Briana Carter of Queen Creek, AZ. They have three sons: Ryan (8), Robert (6), and Richard (2).
