Command Master Chief, 2nd Dental Battalion
HMCS (SW/IW) Alvaro E. Benitez Jr.

Senior Chief Benitez is a native of Houston, TX. and completed recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL in November 2000.  He executed orders to attend Hospital Corpsman “A" school also located in Great Lakes, IL where he was assigned the rate of Hospitalman Apprentice.

 

Upon completion of “A" school he reported to Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA. where he was critical care trained and worked in areas of intensive care, stepdown unit, cardiac care unit, and pediatric intensive care.  He rose through the ranks while serving at Naval Hospital, Twentynine Palms, USS New Orleans Pre-commission Unit, USS New Orleans (LPD 18), Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) “C" school where he was awarded the BMET Navy Enlisted Classification, Naval Hospital, Pensacola, Naval Hospital, Guantanamo Bay, and Naval Medical Readiness and Training Command, Bremerton.

 

In February of 2012 he was selected as an individual augmentee as the senior BMET advisor to the Afghanistan National Army as part of the NATO Training Group in Kabul, Afghanistan where he assisted in course curriculum sustainment and culminated with the inaugural Afghanistan National Army BMET Class graduation.

 

In August 2020 he reported to 2d Dental Battalion/Naval Dental Center, Camp Lejeune where he attended Field Medical Training Battalion East and was awarded the Field Medical Service Technician Navy Enlisted Classification in December 2020. While at 2d Dental Battalion/Naval Dental Center, Camp Lejeune he has served as the S-1 LCPO, New River Dental Clinic Senior Enlisted Leader, Directorate for Administration and Directorate of Dental Services Senior Enlisted Leader, and currently serves as the Command Senior Chief for 2d Dental Battalion/Naval Dental Center, Camp Lejeune, NC.

 

His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4), as well as other unit and campaign awards. ​
