Command Senior Enlisted Leader, 2nd Maintenance Battalion
Sergeant Major Mark J Miller Jr.

Sergeant Major Miller is a native of New Jersey and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania. He attended Reading High School, where he graduated in June 2001. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended MCRD Parris Island in January 2003 with the MOS of 0311. Following graduation from recruit training he attended School of Infantry, Infantry Training Battalion at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Immediately following completion of School of Infantry, Private First Class Miller received orders to 2nd Battalion 6th Marines, Echo Company. While serving in 2nd Battalion 6th Marines, between 2003 and 2007, he held many billets to include rifleman, assistant automatic rifleman, automatic rifleman, and Team Leader. From September 2003 until April 2004, Private First Class Miller deployed to Okinawa, Japan and was later promoted to Lance Corporal. He then would complete a combat deployment to Afghanistan from September to December 2004. In 2005, Corporal Miller completed Infantry Squad Leader's course. From September 2005 until April 2006, he deployed to Iraq and participated in OIF 4-6 and 5-7. From 2006 to 2007 the billet of Infantry Squad Leader was held, during which promotion to Sergeant was obtained in January 2007. In 2007, Sergeant Miller re-enlisted to become a Combat Instructor at School of Infantry East. Upon completion of the Marine Combat Instructor Course in June 2007, Sergeant Miller received orders to Marine Combat Training Battalion, India Company. In January of 2009, Sergeant Miller was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant and began serving as a Platoon Sergeant in the Medical Rehabilitation Platoon at Student Administration Company. From March 2009 to May 2011, he served as a Platoon Commander and completed Infantry Unit Leader's Course and obtained the MOS of 0369. In May 2011 Staff Sergeant Miller received orders to 3rd Battalion 8th Marines where he held the billet of 81's Mortars Section Leader and Platoon Sergeant in Weapons Company. He deployed to Afghanistan OEF in support of combat operations in 2012. Following the deployment he received orders to I MEF EOTG. From July 2013 to June 2016 while at I MEF EOTG, Advisor Training Branch, Staff Sergeant Miller held multiple billets to include Chief Instructor and Operation's Chief where he trained and prepared 14 advisor teams in support of combat operations within I MEF. In August 2015 he got promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and in May 2016 he received orders to 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, India Company. He held the billet of Company Gunnery Sergeant and deployed on the 31st MEU in April 2017. Gunnery Sergeant Miller received orders to Recruiting Duty at RS Richmond, Virginia. From February 2018 to January 2019, while a short halt as a canvassing Recruiter, he was selected and promoted to First Sergeant in January 2019. First Sergeant Miller received orders to Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, FAST Company A as the Company First Sergeant from February 2019 to May 2021. In May 2021 First Sergeant Miller received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron, Motor Transportation Company as Company First Sergeant where he deployed in support of Cold response 2022 in Bodo, Norway as well as Lithuania and Poland in support of Marine Air Control Squadron 2 FWD. In April 2023 Sergeant Major received orders to 2d Intelligence Battalion. From April 2023 to April 2025 Sergeant Major Miller served as Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 2d Intelligence Battalion. In April 2025 Sergeant Major Miller received orders to 2d Maintenance Battalion to Serve as Command Senior Enlisted Leader. Sergeant Major Miller's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal in lieu of 4th award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
