Command Master Chief Joseph L. Johnson

Command Master Chief Johnson is a native of Fort Worth, Texas, who graduated from Everman High School in 1996. Master Chief Johnson attended Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL. After boot camp, he attended Basic Seamanship in Great Lakes, IL.


Master Chief Johnson’s initial duty stations were the USS Gunston Hall (LSD-44) in Little Creek, VA; Construction Electrician “A” School in Wichita Falls, TX; Naval Mobile Construction Battalion SEVEN completing deployments to Puerto Rico, Honduras, and Okinawa; Naval Air Station Public Works Department in Sigonella, Sicily; Naval Construction Group TWO (formerly known as 20th Seabee Readiness Group) in Gulfport, MS. Promoting to Chief in 2008 he reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion SEVENTY-FOUR, Gulfport, MS as the Camp Maintenance and Electrical Projects Chief for the Kuwait deployment then redeployed as the Operations Chief for the Blue Detachment for Ghanzi, Afghanistan. On his next deployment, he deployed to Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan, then redeployed to Combat Outpost Payne as the Assistant Officer in Charge and Senior Enlisted Leader in the Helmand Province. Promoting to Senior Chief in 2011, he reported to the Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering Detachment Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, as the Operations Chief, then fleeted up to the Assistant Officer in Charge and Senior Enlisted Leader for the Construction Electrician & Utilitiesman “A” School. He was promoted to Master Chief in 2015 and reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE THREE THREE, where he was assigned as DET THREE Senior Enlisted Leader and then deployed as Bravo Company Chief to Rota, Spain.


Master Chief Johnson was selected for Command Master Chief in 2016 and served at Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, CA. In 2017, he reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FOUR, where he completed two deployments to the Pacific. In 2020, he reported to TWENTY SECOND Naval Construction Regiment, where they participated in Large Scale Exercise 2021. Command Master Chief Johnson assumed duties at Navy Expeditionary Combat Forces Command (NECFC) Bahrain/Task Force FIVE SIX in October 2021.


Master Chief Johnson is a graduate of the Navy Senior Leader Seminar (NSLS) from Naval Postgraduate School, Senior Enlisted JPME Keystone Course from National Defense University, U.S. Fleet Forces Senior Leader Symposium, Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat (CMC/COB) Course (163), and Senior Enlisted Academy (Brown Group 148).

Command Master Chief Johnson is Seabee Combat Warfare and Expeditionary Warfare qualified. His decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and various other campaign and service awards.
