Lieutenant Colonel Whitaker is from Albany, GA, and graduated from Morehouse College in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps that same year.
After completing The Basic School and Logistics Officer Course in 2008, Lieutenant Colonel Whitaker was ordered to Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, in Okinawa, Japan. During this tour, he served as a Motor Transportation Platoon Commander and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 9.1. Upon returning from deployment, he served as the Battalion S-4 Officer.
In 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Whitaker was assigned to 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, in Camp Pendleton, CA. He served as the Maintenance Management Officer. In 2011, he deployed with Regimental Combat Team 5 as the Logistics Operations Center Officer-in-Charge to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning from deployment, he assumed duties as the Assistant Regimental Logistics Officer.
In 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Whitaker joined 4th Marine Logistics Group, Marine Forces Reserve, in New Orleans, LA, as the Training Officer. He was later selected to serve as Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General, 4th Marine Logistics Group.
In 2016, he was selected to attend Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA. Upon graduation in 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Whitaker became the Logistics Department Head at Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing, at Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina. He participated in several exercises, including Ullr Shield and Trident Juncture 2018. In 2020, he was assigned as Executive Officer, Logistics Operations School, Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools, at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. He later served as Operations Officer, Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools, at Camp Johnson, North Carolina, before receiving orders to 3d Marine Logistics Group.
Lieutenant Colonel Whitaker joined 3d Marine Logistics Group in Okinawa, Japan, in 2022 as the G-3 Operations Officer. He participated in Exercises Keen Sword 23, Freedom Shield 2023, and Pacific Sentry 23. He also served as Deputy, Assistant Chief of Staff G-3, and Assistant Chief of Staff G-4 before executing orders. In 2023, he reported to Marine Corps Installations Command, Arlington, VA to serve as Exercise and Global Force Management Officer; ultimately, serving as the Deputy, Assistant Chief of Staff G-5.
Lieutenant Colonel Whitaker is a graduate of the Tactical Logistics Operations Course (2010), Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (2011), Command and Staff College Distance Education Program (2013), Resident Expeditionary Warfare School (2017), and Advanced Expeditionary Logistics Operations Course (2022). He graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in 2016 and became a certified Project Management Professional in 2020.
Lieutenant Colonel Whitaker is currently serving as the commanding officer of Combat Logistics Battalion 6.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
