Master Gunnery Sergeant Joseph M. Curran

Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran is a native of Newark, New Jersey.  He graduated from Essex Catholic High School in 1987.  On 21 March 1988, Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended boot camp at MCRD Parris Island South Carolina, where he was assigned to 3rd Recruit Training Battalion and graduated on 14 June 1988.

He attended Motor Transport School, Camp Johnson on 25 June 1988 and graduated on 18 August 1988. He received orders to 8th Motor Transport Bn, 2nd FSSG, Camp Lejeune, where he was assigned to Bravo Company as a Motor Transport operator.

In November 1988, Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran received orders to Marine Service Support Group 26, where he deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit for Operation Sharpe Edge, Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and perform Contingency Operations with Six Fleet in Beirut, Lebanon.

In January 1993, Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran received orders to Officer Candidate School where he was assigned as a Platoon Sergeant and Troop Handler.

In January 1997, Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran received orders to 3rd Marine Division, Truck Company, Okinawa Japan where he served as Platoon Sergeant and SNCOIC.

In January 1998, Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran received orders to Safely Division, MCB Quantico VA where he served as an instructor and Traffic Safety Specialist.

In April 2002, he received orders to Drill Instructor School Parris Island, South Carolina where he served has as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor with 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Fox Company.

In July 2005, Master Gunnery Sergeant received orders to 7th Communication Battalion, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa Japan where he served as the Battalion Motor Transport Chief.

In July 2008 Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran received orders to 5th Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division where he served as the Battalion Motor Transport Chief, where he deployed to the Southern Helmand's Providence, Afghanistan in support of Operation Khanjar and Operation Moshtrak.

In January of 2011, Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran received orders to the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy, where he served as a Senior Faculty Advisor, Advance course.

In April 2014 Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran received orders to Truck Company, 2d Marine Division where he served as Operation Chief. In December 2015 Master Gunnery Sergeant Curran received orders to Marine Logistic Group where he currently serves as the Command Inspector General Chief.
