CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- U.S. Marines with 2nd Marine Logistics Group competed in a basketball tournament to build unit cohesion March 29, 2019.
“The purpose of the basketball tournament is to bring the Marine Logistic Group together and develop some comradery through friendly competition,” said 2nd Lt. Matthew Murray, Assistant Future Operations Office with Combat Logistics Regiment 27. “Ultimately, we want to have fun while getting some good PT in at the same time.”
During the tournament, 10 teams from different units competed in a single elimination process over a three days. CLR 27 won the tournament, receiving a trophy and a 72-hour liberty pass.
“The whole tournament was a massive success, with lots of fun and close competition,” said Murray. “It was a great time for the entire group to spend outside of work.”
CLR 27 played against Combat Logistics Battalion 8 in the championship and beat them 77 to 34.
