CAPT Jones entered the military as an enlisted Sailor in 1988 and served onboard the USS Peterson DD969 from 1990-1993 as a Sonar Technician.  Upon completion of his active duty obligation he entered the active reserves as a Boatswains Mate while obtaining his Bachelors of Science degree from Murray State University.  In 1997, he was accepted to the University Of Louisville School Of Dentistry and obtained a commission as an Ensign.  He was later promoted to Lieutenant upon graduation as a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2001. 

From 2001-2002  LT Jones served as Chief Resident in a General Practice Residency providing insight into oncology, maxillofacial prosthodontics, oral medicine/pathology in healthy and immunocompromised patients, oral and maxillofacial surgery, TMJ dysfunction, geriatric dental care, exodontia, endodontics, periodontics, dental implants, general dentistry under IV sedation, and general anesthesia.

From 2002-2005 LT Jones served with 3rd Dental Battalion, Okinawa, Japan.  His duties included Assistant Dental Officer, Forensics Dental Officer, President Junior Officer’s Advisory Board, Division Officer at Camp Hansen, and Clinic Director at Kadena Dental Annex.

From 2005-2008 LCDR Jones attended the University Of Michigan and obtained a Master’s degree in Restorative Dentistry.  He presented his thesis, “Preservation of Pre-Polymerized Particles in Composite Resins”, at the 2008 International Academy of Dental Research.  After graduation he completed board certification with the American Board of Operative Dentistry. He is currently serving as the President of the American Board of Operative Dentistry.

From 2008-2010 LCDR Jones served as Division Officer onboard the USS Roosevelt CVN 69 and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

From 2010-2013 CDR Jones was stationed at 2d Dental Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, NC where he served as Division Officer at Osborne Dental Clinic, Clinic Director at H1 Annex and French Creek Branch Dental Clinic.

From 2013-2016 CDR Jones served as Officer in Charge,11th Dental Company Detachment, Iwakuni, Japan and served as 3d Dental Battalion’s Command representative for the construction of a new 38 operatory Dental Clinic under the Defense Policy Review Initiative (DPRI).

From 2016-Current CAPT Jones is serving as Executive Officer, 2d Dental Battalion, Naval Dental Center, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

CAPT Jones has attended Advanced Medical Department Officer’s Course, Tricare Financial Management, Executive Program Course, Healthcare Management Seminar, Senior Officer Legal Course, Federal Healthcare Executives Leadership Course, Naval Senior Leadership Seminar, CAPSTONE and Naval Leadership and Ethics Course.  He completed his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) phase one and received a diploma from the Naval War College in May 2014.
