Colonel Karin R. Fitzgerald

Colonel Fitzgerald was born in Oxford, England.  She graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in Central and Eastern European Studies and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on August 14, 1998.

Upon graduating from The Basic School and Ground Supply Officer Course, Colonel Fitzgerald was assigned as the Battalion Supply Officer for 3rd Materiel Readiness Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Okinawa Japan and after a year became the Officer in Charge of the Deployed Support Unit.

In 2001, Colonel Fitzgerald became the Supply Detachment Commander for Marine Expeditionary Unit Service Support Group-31(MSSG-31) for three deployments throughout the Pacific Area of Operations.

In July 2002, Colonel Fitzgerald transferred to Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School in Twenty-nine Palms, California where she served as the Supply Officer for the organic, general, and secondary repairable accounts. During this tour she earned a Masters in Business Administration from National University.

Colonel Fitzgerald attended the Expeditionary Warfare School in 2002 with a follow on assignment as the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Supply Officer.  She did two WESTPAC deployments with the 11th MEU.  Subsequently, Colonel Fitzgerald was assigned to the Supply School, Camp Johnson, North Carolina as the Officer in Charge of the Instruction Branch. 

Colonel Fitzgerald then attend the Marine Corps Command and Staff with a follow on assignment and deployment as the Executive Officer with Combat Logistics Battalion 5 to Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan in 2011. In the fall of 2013 she moved to the Operations Section of the 1st Marine Logistics Group (MLG) to conduct planning for MLG participation in Division and MEF exercises.  In 2014, she moved to fill a critical staff shortfall as the Executive Officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 1 and then later as the Operations Officer for the regiment. 

In 2015, Colonel Fitzgerald assumed the duties as the Section Lead for Logistics Systems and Technologies Integration (LPV-2), Installations & Logistics, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps executing logistics information technology systems portfolio management. Following this assignment, Colonel Fitzgerald assumed command of Combat Logistics Battalion 6.  During this tour she deployed as the Commanding Officer of the Logistics Combat Element for Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response Africa 17.2/18.1 rotations with Marines located in five countries and providing support to Marine forces in two combatant commands. 

Colonel Fitzgerald attended The Eisenhower School at National Defense University with an additional concentration in Supply Chain Management. After graduation she completed a tour on the Joint Staff with the J7 Joint Force Development Team reimaging joint warfighting concepts through the potential of existing and emerging technological advancements.

Colonel Fitzgerald's personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (third award), a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and two Humanitarian Assistance Medals.
