Lieutenant Colonel Tony Ansley is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2001 and was later selected for the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Program in 2006. Upon completing his undergraduate degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, he was commissioned through the Officer Candidate Class (OCC) in March 2007.
He served as a personnel administration clerk from 2002 through 2007. His tours included assignments with the Group Personnel Administration Center, II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group; Marine Corps Administration Analysis Team East; and a Joint Task Force in Naples, Italy.
In 2007, Lieutenant Ansley reported to First Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton, California. During his time with First Reconnaissance Battalion Lieutenant Ansley served as the Headquarters and Service Company Executive Officer, Battalion Logistics Officer, Amory Officer, Embarkation Officer, Battalion Motor Transport Officer, and Maintenance Management Officer. During this tour he deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.
In 2011, Captain Ansley reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. From 2011 to 2012, while serving with Company F, Recruit Training Battalion, Captain Ansley served as a Series Commander. From 2012 to 2013 he served as Company E, Company Commander. From 2013 to 2014, he served as the Regimental Operations Officer, Recruit Training Regiment.
From 2014 to 2015, Captain Ansley attended Expeditionary Warfare School, Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduating, he served as a Platoon Commander for OCC 219, Officer Candidates School.
In 2015, Captain Ansley reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 271, 2nd Marine Air Wing (MAW) in Cherry Point, North Carolina. From 2015 to 2016, while serving with MWSS-271, Captain Ansley served as Company Commander, Headquarters and Service Company and Squadron Logistics Officer. Upon selection to Major, he served as the squadron Executive Officer from 2016 to 2017. During this tour Major Ansley deployed for training with the squadron in support of Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI) 2-17.
In 2017, Major Ansley reported to 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Camp Lejeune and served as the MEU Logistics Officer. While assigned to the 22d MEU Command Element from 2017 to 2019 he deployed to Morón, Spain and Eastern and Central Africa with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Africa 18.1. He also supported the 2018 Hurricane Florence Response and deployed with the 22d MEU in support of operations in 5th fleet, 6th fleet, and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.
From 2019 to 2020 Major Ansley attended Command and Staff College, Quantico, Virginia.
In 2020, Major Ansley reported to Manpower Management Officer Assignments, Manpower and Reserve Affairs. From 2020 to 2021, he served as the Major’s Combat Service Support Monitor. From 2021 to 2022, he served as the Field Grade Monitor’s Center Desk. Upon promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, he served as the Branch Head for Manpower Management Senior Leaders from 2022 to 2024.
Lieutenant Colonel Ansley is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School and Command and Staff College, holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Webster University, and a Master's Degree in Military Studies from Marine Corps University.
Lieutenant Colonel Ansley’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and the Good Conduct Medal.
