Commanding Officer, 2nd Distribution Support Battalion
Lieutenant Colonel Jon T. Peterson

Lieutenant Colonel Peterson was born in Spokane, Washington. He commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in Jan 2004, having completed his undergraduate education in Interdisciplinary Studies at Eastern Washington University.

Following The Basic School and the Logistics Officer Course, he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 in February 2005. While with Marine Wing Support Squadron, Lieutenant Colonel Peterson served as Detachment Officer-in-Charge, Intelligence Officer, Motor Transport Operations Officer, Logistics Officer and Motor Transport Company Commander. Lieutenant Colonel Peterson deployed with Marine Wing Support Squadrons 272 and 273 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom during this tour.

In March 2008, Lieutenant Colonel Peterson reported to 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of the Series Officer Course, Lieutenant Colonel Peterson was assigned as a Series Commander and later Executive Officer for Echo Company. In June of 2009, he was reassigned to Hotel Company, where he served as the Commanding Officer. In June 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Peterson was directed to serve as the Operations Officer and Commanding Officer of Headquarters and Service Company.

Following his successful tour within the Recruit Training Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Peterson received orders in April 2011 to 9th Communication Battalion, I Marine Headquarters Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Upon his arrival, he served as the Battalion Logistics Officer. He served in this capacity until the battalion deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at which time he served as the Logistics Officer and Headquarters and Services Company Commander. Upon redeployment, Lieutenant Colonel Peterson was reassigned as the Battalion Adjutant and Headquarters Company Commander.

In August 2014, Lieutenant Colonel Peterson transferred to the Individual Ready Reserve until June 2016, when he joined the Select Marine Corps Reserve and assumed duties as the Commanding Officer for Headquarters and Service, Combat Logistics Battalion 23.
During this assignment, he was mobilized and transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 453 where he served as the Battalion Operations Officer. Upon completion of his mobilization, he resumed duties as the Commanding Officer, Headquarters and Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 23.

In March 2018, he was mobilized and assigned to Africa Future Operations Cell for MARFOREUR/AF in Stuttgart, Germany. He completed his orders and rejoined Combat Logistics Battalion 23 in Oct 2018. In March 2019, he mobilized and deployed with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Southern Command as the Command Logistics Officer.

In March of 2020, he returned to the active component and was assigned to 2d Supply Battalion where he served as the Battalion Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer. In June of 2021, he was transferred to 2d Marine Logistics Group Headquarters where he served as the Command Inspector General.

In June of 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Peterson transferred to 2d Marine Division, where he served as the AC/S G-4. As the AC/S G-4,
