Colonel William V. Gorsuch

Colonel William V. Gorsuch was born in Ohio and enlisted in the Marine Corps via the Delayed Entry Program and completed Recruit Training at Parris Island, SC in September 1990. After completing the School of Infantry at Camp Lejeune, NC and the Basic Security Guard School at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA, Lance Corporal Gorsuch was assigned to Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) Company Pacific serving as a Machinegun Team Leader and supported Joint Task Force-6 conducting counter-narcotics operations along the Mexican/American border as a Listening Post/Operation Post Team Leader.  

In 1993, Corporal Gorsuch was assigned to Company E, 2d Battalion, 9th Marines (redesignated 2d Battalion, 4th Marines) at Camp Pendleton, CA serving as a Machinegun Section Leader and Weapons Platoon Sergeant, deploying with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). In 1996, Sergeant Gorsuch completed a lateral move as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. Upon graduation of EOD School, he was assigned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion at Camp Pendleton, CA where he deployed participating in exercise Native Fury 98 and deployed with MEU Service Support Group-11 as part of the 11th MEU participating in Operations STABILISE and SOUTHERN WATCH.

Upon returning from deployment, he was assigned to EOD, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.   Staff Sergeant Gorsuch was selected for the Meritorious Commissioning program, commissioning as a Second Lieutenant graduating with honors from Officer Candidate School in April 2001. After completing The Basic School at Quantico, VA and the Logistics Officer Course at Camp Johnson, NC, he was assigned to II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) Headquarters Group (II MHG) at Camp Lejeune, NC serving as the Maintenance Management Officer and Motor Transport Platoon Commander. While assigned to II MHG he deployed participating in exercise Dynamic Mix 02 and in support of the invasion of Iraq as part of Task Force Tarawa with the 2D Marine Expeditionary Brigade. In 2004, First Lieutenant Gorsuch was assigned to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Sacramento, CA serving as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer. In 2008 Captain Gorsuch graduated from Expeditionary Warfare School at Quantico, VA.

After graduation, he was assigned to 3d Battalion, 3d Marines at Kaneohe Bay, HI serving as the S-4 Officer and deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM 9.1 and ENDURING FREEDOM 10.1. In 2011, Captain Gorsuch was assigned to Headquarters, 12th Marine Corps District at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA serving as the Assistant for Enlisted Recruiting.   In 2015, Major Gorsuch graduated from Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Quantico, VA. After graduation, he was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 1 (CLR-1) at Camp Pendleton, CA serving as the S-4 Officer. In 2016, he deployed in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, serving as the Sustainment Advisor to the 7th Iraqi Army Division G-4 and S-4 Officer for Task Force Al Asad. After his deployment he returned to  CLR-1 serving as the Headquarters Company Commander and S-4 Officer. In 2017, Major Gorsuch was assigned to I MEF G-4 serving as a Plans Officer participating in exercise Dawn Blitz 18 and deployed participating in exercise Native Fury 18.

In April 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Gorsuch was assigned as the first commanding officer of I MEF Support Battalion at Camp Pendleton, CA. In 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Gorsuch graduated from Marine Corps War College at Quantico, VA. After graduation, he was assigned to the Joint Staff J4 Directorate serving as a Strategic Logistics Planner.  In 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Gorsuch was assigned to Marine Corps Installations Command serving as the Assistant Chief of Staff, Operations and Plans. Colonel Gorsuch is a 2003 graduate of Southern Illinois University with a B.S. in Workforce Education and a 2010 graduate of Webster University with a M.A. in Business and Organizational Security Management. His military schools include Expeditionary Warfare, U.S. Army Ranger and Airborne, Tactical Logistics Operations, Multinational Logistics, Joint Course on Logistics, Advanced Logistics and Technology, Amphibious Ship Load Planners, Maritime Pre-Positioning Force Staff Planning, Marine Corps Command and Staff, graduating with a M.S. in Military Studies, and Marine Corps War College, graduating with a M.S. in Strategic Studies.

Colonel Gorsuch's personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

He is the 2016 recipient of the Navy League's Lieutenant General John A. Lejeune Inspirational Leadership Award. Additionally, while deployed to Al Asad, Iraq, he led his team to receive the 2016 Marine Corps Logistics Team of the Year Award (Small Unit).
