Lieutenant Colonel Chad Phillips

LtCol Phillips was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was raised on and around various Marine Corps posts or stations. He attended 10 week Platoon Leaders Course in 2006 and was commissioned in May 2007 after graduating with a Bachelors of Science from Toccoa Falls College.

After completing The Basic School and Logistics Officer Course, he was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2d MLG. From August to October 2008 he served as the S-3A. From Combat Logistics Regiment 27 he executed orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 22, attached to 22d MEU.

While serving with Combat Logistics Battalion 22 he deployed with 22d MEU from May to December 2009. After returning from deployment, LtCol Phillips was then redeployed in January 2010 with 22d MEU to Haiti in support of OPERATION UNIFIED RESPONSE. LtCol Phillips served as the S-4A and Maintenance Management Officer for both deployments. In May 2010 LtCol Phillips became the Motor Transportation Officer for Combat Logistics Battalion 22. He served in this billet until January 2011. Ordered to Combat Logistics Regiment 27 in January 2011, LtCol Phillips served as the Regimental S-4A from January to May 2011.

LtCol Phillips reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on 30 June 2011 and was assigned to Company E, 2d Recruit Training Battalion. From July 2011 to September 2012 LtCol Phillips completed four recruit training cycles with Company E as a Series Commander. During his time with Company E he attended Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, GA. After completing his time with Company E LtCol Phillips became the Recruit Training Regiment S-4. He filled this billet from September 2012 to April 2013 when he became the Company Commander for Special Training Company.

LtCol Phillips served as the Company Commander for Special Training Company from April 2013 to November 2013 when he deployed as an Individual Augmentee in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During this deployment LtCol Phillips served as the Logistics Officer for 82nd Sustainment Brigade, Central Command (CENTCOM) Materiel Recovery Element (CMRE), 1st Theater Sustainment Command (1st TSC), United States Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A) from November 2013 to May of 2014.

From June 2014 to Aug 2014 LtCol Phillips again served as the Recruit Training Regiment S-4 until he executed orders to 1st Battalion 6th Marines. In Aug 2014 LtCol Phillips reported to 1st Battalion 6th Marines to serve as the Battalion Logistics Officer. During this time he participated in MTX 5-15 in Bridgeport, CA and deployed as the Battalion Landing Team 1/6 Logistics officer from Jun-Dec 2016. From May-July 2017 he served as the Executive Officer for V16.

In July 2017 he executed orders to Marine Corps Detachment Fort Leonard Wood, MO where he served as the Company Commander and School Director for Motor Transportation Instruction Company; he served in this billet through June 2020. During this period he completed a Master's of Science in Strategic Leadership.

In June 2020 LtCol Phillips reported to Marine Aircraft Group 24 to serve as the Logistics Officer. In the Spring of 2021 he assumed the role of the Personnel Support Detachment Commanding Officer in addition to his role as the Logistics Officer.

From July of 2022 to June 2024 LtCol Phillips served as the USINDOPACOM J4 where he served as the J4 Future Plans Officer and Joint Logistics Operations Chief.

LtCol Phillips personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 gold star.
