Richard L. Ray, a retired gunnery sergeant, shares his experiences from the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, with Marines from Combat Logistics Battalion 6, 2nd Marine Logistics Group during the unit’s trip to the Beirut Memorial near Camp Lejeune, N.C., Oct. 11, 2012. The Marines used the field trip as an opportunity to speak with Ray, a veteran of three tours in Vietnam and one of the Marines sent to Lebanon after the bombing, to ensure  the legacy of Beirut is passed on to future generations of Marines.
