Commanding Officer, 2nd Medical Battalion
Captain Robert "Dean" Goad

Captain Goad is from Mount Airy, North Carolina and was commissioned as an Ensign after graduating from North Carolina A&T State University with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. 
His service in the Operating Forces includes:  Administrative Officer, Fleet Surgical Team EIGHT (August 2002-2004); Operations Officer, 3d Medical Battalion (June 2007-August 2009); Medical Planner, III Marine Expeditionary Force (August 2009-January 2011); Planner, NATO Rule of Law Field Force (February 2011-April 2012); Medical Planner, 3d Marine Division (March 2014-June 2017); and Executive Officer, 1st Medical Battalion (July 2017-May 2019).
His service outside of the Operating Forces includes:  Public Works Engineer, Naval Air Station Patuxent River (October 1997-June 1999);  Project Engineer, Naval Hospital Roosevelt Roads (June 1999-June 2002); Assistant Director for Administration, Naval Health Research Center (April 2004-July 2006); Department Head for Human Resources, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (May 2012-March 2014); and Chief of Medical Plans, The Joint Staff (June 2019-June 2021).
His deployments include:  Operation Iraqi Freedom, Persian Gulf; Operation Enduring Freedom, Persian Gulf; and Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.
He has completed:  Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications, Elon College; Master of Business Administration, Southern New Hampshire University; Expeditionary Warfare School (Resident); Air Command and Staff College (Non-resident).  He also received a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. 
Captain Goad assumed the duties as Commanding Officer, 2d Medical Battalion, Camp Lejeune on 5 August 2022.
