Commanding Officer, 2nd Dental Battalion/Naval Dental Center
Capt. Trent L. Outhouse

Dr. Outhouse attended Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, graduating in 1996.  After a brief term in private practice, he joined the Navy Dental Corps commissioned as Lieutenant.  His first duty station was to U.S. Naval Dental Center Yokosuka, Japan serving through 1999, eventually as Department Head of the Fleet Dental Clinic.  Orders to the Pentagon Tri-Service Dental Clinic came as his next duty station where he served as the Oral Diagnosis and Operative Dentistry Department Head through 2002.  After completing a two-year residency program in Comprehensive Dentistry at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, he graduated in 2004 earning a dual Master’s Degree from The George Washington University.  His next assignment was Dental Department Head of Naval Branch Health Clinic, Bahrain.  During this assignment he achieved certification by the American Board of General Dentistry in 2006.  In 2007, he assumed the position as Director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry and Advanced Clinical Practice programs at Sewell’s Point Dental Clinic, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.  2011 brought orders to USS KEARSARGE (LHD-3) serving as Dental Department Head though 2013.  Upon reporting to Naval Branch Health Clinic, Bahrain he served as Dental Department Head through 2016.  He then reported to 1st Dental Battalion/Naval Dental Center Camp Pendleton California where he served as Executive Officer through 2018. Captain Outhouse is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, member of the Royal Society of Medicine, Diplomat of the American Board of General Dentistry, and a contributing author to the Cochrane Collaboration.  His personal awards are: Meritorious Service Medal (one star), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two stars), Army Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (one star).
