Commander Skrypek is a native of West Virginia and graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and the University of South Carolina with a Master’s in Health Administration. In 2002 he enlisted in the Navy as a Cryptologic Technician, Interpretive (CTI) and attended the Defense Language Institute before reporting to Navy Information Operations Command (NAVIOCOM), Fort Gordon, Georgia where he deployed on submarines, augmented National Security Agency missions, and deployed to Iraq as a member of a Joint Special Operations Task Force.
CDR Skrypek’s healthcare delivery tours include Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune (NHCL) and Marine Raider Support Group, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC). While at NHCL, he worked as a Data Analyst and Department Head in the TRICARE Operations Department, responsible for Access to Care, Business Operations, Data Quality, Enrollment, Population Health, Beneficiary Assistance, and Marketing. While at MARSOC, he was the Administrator of the HM2 Charles Luke Milam Clinic, responsible for the daily operations of an inter-disciplinary health and dental clinic that provided primary care, dentistry, psychological, physical therapy, and ancillary services to more than 3,000 beneficiaries.
Operational assignments include 2nd Medical Battalion, Naval Forces Europe/Africa and Sixth Fleet, and II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF). At 2d Medical Battalion, he served as Bravo Surgical Company Commander and S3 Operations Officer. While at NAVEUR/NAVAF/C6F, he was the Senior Medical Planner and participated in numerous Fleet Exercises throughout Europe and Africa and was heavily involved in Fleet COVID-19 response as well as Operation Octave Quartz and Operation Allies Welcome. At II MEF, he served as the Deputy Surgeon.
CDR Skrypek’s headquarters assignments include Headquarters Marine Corps where he served in a medical planner fellowship, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Integration of Capabilities and Resources (OPNAV N81), where he worked as an operations analyst, and the BUREAU of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), where he served as Deputy Director, Operations (N3B).
CDR Skrypek is currently the Executive Officer at 2d Medical Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group in Camp Lejeune, NC.
He is a Fleet Marine Force Warfare Officer and his personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Joint Service Commendation, Navy Commendation (4), Joint Service Achievement, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement, and various other unit awards. He is married to the former Ashley Walters of South Carolina. They have two children, Jax (18) and Ramsey (15)
