Commanding Officer, 2nd Landing Support Battalion
Lieutenant Colonel Bethany S. Peterson

LtCol Peterson was born in Dover, New Hampshire. She was commissioned as then-Second Lieutenant Lapointe in the Marine Corps in May 2003, upon graduation from the United States Naval Academy.

Following The Basic School and the Logistics Officer Course, 2ndLt Lapointe was assigned to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 3 in November 2004 where she served as the S4 officer. In February 2005, she reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 where she served as the Motor Transport Platoon Commander and Battalion Training Officer. 1stLt Lapointe deployed with Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 and Marine Wing Support Group 37 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom during this tour.

In June 2007, 1stLt Lapointe reported to 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of the Series Officer Course, 1stLt Lapointe was assigned as a Series Commander for Papa Company and later November Company. From 2008 to 2009, Captain Lapointe served as the Protocol Officer for the Commanding General, MCRD Parris Island and the Eastern Recruiting Region.

In June 2009, she transferred to Weapons and Field Training Battalion where she served the billets of Supply Officer, S-4 Officer, Boats Section OIC, and Headquarters and Service Company Commander. Captain Lapointe received orders in June 2010 to resident Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA. In May 2011, now-Capt Peterson reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 1 at Camp Pendleton, CA where she served as the Current Operations Officer. She quickly transferred to Combat Logistics Regiment 5 to serve as the Assistant Operations Officer and later the Battalion Logistics Officer and R4 OIC throughout the battalion's Operation Enduring Freedom deployment. Upon return to Camp Pendleton, Captain Peterson served as the Support Company Commander until her EAS in September 2013.

In November 2013, Major Peterson joined the IMA Detachment at MARFORSOUTH in Doral, FL where she worked in the G-4 as a Logistics Planner. From 2014 to 2018 in their civilian life, Major Peterson and her husband owned and operated a small construction company. In April 2015, Major Peterson transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 23 where she served as the Future Operations Officer, Operations Officer and Executive Officer. In June 2017, she served as the Logistics Combat Element OIC during Exercise TRADEWINDS 17 in the SOUTHCOM AOR. In March 2018, Major Peterson was mobilized and assigned to MARFOREUR/AF G-4 Current Operations as the lead G4 planner for Exercise SABER STRIKE 18 in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, and the transition of Baltic Sea Rotational Force (BSRF) from Romania to Norway.

In September 2018, Major Peterson returned to CONUS in preparation to Return to Active Duty (RAD). After temporary attachment to P Btry, 5th Battalion, 14th Marines during transition, she reported to 2d Marine Division where she served as the Engineer Officer from May to December 2019 after which she assumed responsibilities as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G4. From March-May 2021, she served as the O5 Officer-In-Charge of a II MEF COVID Vaccination Team deployed to Memphis, TN in support of a Federal Community Vaccination Site. She served as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G4, 2d Marine Division from December 2019 to June 2022 when she assumed command of 2d Landing Support Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 27.

LtCol Peterson is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School and the Air Force Command and Staff College (Distance Education). She attained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Russian Language Minor from the United States Naval Academy in 2003. She attained a Master of Arts degree in International Relations - National Security Policy Concentration from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2004. She earned a Masters of Business Administration from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA in 2021.

LtCol Peterson's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), the Navy Achievement Medal and various other Service and Campaign medals.
