Sergeant Major Nadia M. Sensing

Sergeant Major Sensing enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 2004, completed recruit training in November 2004 and was promoted to Lance Corporal, meritoriously, as the Company Honor Graduate. She attended Marine Combat Training in Camp Geiger, NC in December 2004.

Sergeant Major Sensing attended MOS school in Pensacola, FL in January 2005, then went to follow on MOS training in Cherry Point, NC that April. In July 2005, Sergeant Major Sensing received orders to VMA-223 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC as an Aviation Engine Mechanic, MOS 6212, for the AV8B Harrier. In August 2005, she deployed to Al Asad, Iraq and served as a member of the election duty for the first Iraqi elections. In February 2006, Sergeant Major Sensing was promoted to the rank of Corporal.

After returning from deployment, Sergeant Major Sensing was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in February 2007. Later that year she was selected to played for the All-Marine basketball team and at the end of the season was named on the All Armed Forces Team. Shortly after, Sergeant Major Sensing received orders for Drill Instructor School 3-08.

Sergeant Major Sensing executed orders to Drill Instructor School at MCRD Parris Island, SC in April 2008 and graduated in July 2008 obtaining the MOS 0911. She checked into Oscar Company, 4th RTBN as a Drill Instructor. In March 2009, Sergeant Major Sensing attended the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor (MAI) Course at MCRD Parris Island, SC and graduated as the Gung-Ho recipient for her class obtaining the MOS 0916. After three cycles, she served as an MAI on quota for ten months. Sergeant Major Sensing served as a Drill Instructor for 5 more cycles before being promoted to Staff Sergeant in March 2011. She served as a Senior Drill Instructor in November Company for one cycle and completed a successful tour of DI Duty in May 2011.

Sergeant Major Sensing received orders to VMA-214 at MCAS Yuma, AZ and checked in to her unit in August 2011. She deployed on the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in November 2011 as the Powerline Division SNCOIC. During deployment she served as a Corporal's Course instructor for the Command Element. Sergeant Major Sensing executed another deployment while attached to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit in August 2013.

Sergeant Major Sensing received orders to the United States Naval Academy as an Assistant Marine Officer Instructor in February 2014 and checked into the Academy in May. In February 2016, Sergeant Major Sensing attended the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Trainer Course in Quantico, VA and graduated April 2016 obtaining the MOS 0917. She served as a Senior Enlisted Leader for midshipmen at the Naval Academy for three years and completed her tour in May 2017.

Sergeant Major Sensing received orders to VMA-231 and checked in to the Maintenance Control Division in July 2017. Sergeant Major Sensing was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in July 2017. In March 2018, she attended the Force Fitness Instructor Course in Quantico, VA and graduated in April 2018 earning the MOS 0919. Sergeant Major Sensing deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit in December 2018 as the detachment SNCOIC. She served as the Maintenance Control SNCOIC until January 2020 when she received orders for Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA.

Sergeant Major Sensing checked into Officer Candidate School in February 2020. She became a Physical Training Instructor where she led candidates in the conduct of physical training for five months until her appointed position as a Sergeant Instructor in Lima Company in July. She served as a Sergeant Instructor for one cycle and was selected to serve as a Company First Sergeant in September 2020. Sergeant Major Sensing was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant in February 2021. She served as a Company First Sergeant for the Candidate Training Companies for seven cycles and was appointed as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant in April 2022.

Sergeant Major Sensing departed Officer Candidate School in February 2023. She checked into 2d Battalion, 8th Marines in March 2023 at MCB Camp Lejeune, NC and assumed the responsibilities of Company First Sergeant in Weapons Company. During this time in Weapons Company, she deployed to Integrated Training Exercise 5-23 on a Service Level Training Exercise to 29 Palms, CA and later deployed on a Unit Deployment Program 24.1 to Okinawa, Japan. Sergeant Major Sensing was promoted to her current rank in September 2024 and assumed the duties and responsibilities of Battalion Sergeant Major for Combat Logistics Battalion 22 in Camp Lejeune, NC in November 2024.

Sergeant Major Sensing has received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in lieu of fourth award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
