Lieutenant Colonel Steven A. Valenti

Lieutenant Colonel Valenti was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in December 2008, having completed his undergraduate education at Quinnipiac University. Lieutenant Colonel Valenti completed The Basic School and Logistics Officers Course in 2009.

He was then ordered to 1st Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment-15, 1st Marine Logistics Group. From October 2009 to July 2010, he served as the Motor Transport Maintenance Company Executive Officer and Motor Transport Engineer Platoon Commander.

In July 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Valenti reported to Combat Logistics Regiment-15 (Forward) to serve as the Combat Operations Center Watch Officer in which he deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 10-2, Helmand Province, Afghanistan from September 2010 to April 2011. Upon redeployment, from April 2011 to May 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Valenti served as the Motor Transport Maintenance Company Commander, 1st Maintenance Battalion.

In May 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Valenti reported to Recruiting Station Pittsburgh, 1st Marine Corps District, Eastern Recruiting Region where he served as the Recruiting Station Operations Officer. He processed over 1,600 applicants into the Marine Corps and managed nine recruiting sub-stations to attain all Recruiting Station Pittsburgh’s enlistment categories through his three-year tenure. In October 2015, he transferred to Fort Lee, Virginia to attend the Army Logistics Captains Career Course in which he graduated on the President’s List and received the Sustainment Center of Excellence Leadership Award.

In April 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Valenti reported to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division to serve as the Battalion Logistics Officer. In October 2016, he deployed in support of Western Pacific (WESTPAC) 16-2 as the Logistics Officer, Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), I Marine Expeditionary Force. During the WESTPAC deployment, he supported a Theater Security Cooperation in Sri Lanka and OPERATION OAKEN STEEL in Djibouti, Africa.

In January 2017, he operationally detached from the 11th MEU to support Special Operations Joint Task Force within the Central Command Area of Operations serving as the Logistics Officer for Task Force 9-7 in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, Northern Syria until May 2017. In July 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Valenti reported to 1st Marine Regiment to serve as the Regiment Logistics Officer where he supported bi-lateral Exercise IRON FIST-19 with the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force and Exercise NATIVE FURY-20 in United Arab Emirates.

Lieutenant Colonel Valenti’s next assignment was Resident Professional Military Education aboard Quantico, Virginia to attend Marine Corps University Command and Staff College (Academic Year-21) where he earned a Master of Military Studies. Lieutenant Colonel Valenti was assigned to the Expeditionary Warfare School in 2021 where he served as a Faculty Advisor, MAGTF Operations Afloat Course Director, and Deputy Director.

Lieutenant Colonel Valenti’s is currently serving as the commanding officer of 2d Distribution Support Battalion and his personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award.
