MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (May 3, 2006) ? Corporal John D. Peters (left) and Cpl. Johnnie J. Portis II repair the rubber on a Combat Rubber Reconnaissance Craft here May 3. A platoon of Marines with Small Craft Repair Platoon, 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group are responsible for the upkeep of some of the pivotal small vessels in the amphibious fleet. Peters, a Richmond, Va., native and Portis, an Akron, Ohio native are both small craft repair mechanics with the platoon.
