CAMP TAQADDUM- Iraq (June 18, 2005)- Mr. Nick Kunesh, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Logistics, and Mr. Alan F. Estevez, Assistant Deputy Undersecretary of Defense, visited Marines and Sailors of 2d Force Service Support Group (Forward) to assess theater logistics and innovations and incorporate Marine Corps lessons learned from implementation in Joint theater logistics planning. They received a brief regarding Logistics Modernization Initiatives in support of II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). This integration of structure, process reform, Information Technology (IT) enablers and an improved communication architecture not only speeds up delivery but also allows service members to track shipments of supplies from the vendor to the individual Marine, at the Marine Air Ground Task Force Distribution Center, Combat Logistics Regiment 25, and they were impressed. ?Seeing this (technology and processes) operational in a tactical environment is meaningful to the warfighter and on the cutting edge of the logistics modernization. Marines are leading the way,? said Estevez. ?It is meaningful for me as a senior leader in logistics, seeing Marines work and making operational, but it is also meaningful for the public we are supporting.?
