The Marine Corps began using integrated retail terminals, or IRTs, such as the one pictured here, in the 1980s, and they were replaced at the end of 2012 with point of sale systems in the post offices aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C. IRTs encountered many problems during roughly 30 years of employment including computer crashes and the use of outdated floppy drives.
