Temporarily activated during the 1960s at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as Logistics Support Unit,
34th Marine Amphibious Unit, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, to participate in exercises and operations in the Mediterranean and Caribbean areas

Redesignated 7 February 1972 as Logistics Support Unit 34, 34th Marine Amphibious Unit,
Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic

Participated in numerous exercises and operations during the 1970s and 1980s in the Mediterranean and North Atlantic Areas

Redesignated 1 July 1982 as Marine Amphibious Unit Service Support Group 24, 24th Marine Amphibious Unit, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic

Participated as part of the multinational peace-keeping force in Lebanon, October 1982-February 1983 and May -November 1983

Reassigned during January 1985 to the 2d Force Service Support Group

Redesignated 1 March 1986 as Marine Amphibious Unit Service Support Group, 26th Marine Amphibious Unit,
Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic

Redesignated 5 February 1988 as Marine Expeditionary Unit Support Group 26
