Family Readiness

Welcome Aboard Families and Friends,

Welcome to 2d Medical Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  You’re Marine / Sailor has asked that you be included in our Battalion Family Readiness Program so I would like to officially welcome you.

My name is Tom Hawes and I am the Family Readiness Officer for 2d Medical Battalion.  I am here to support and assist the families of our Marines / Sailors by disseminating official communication from the Commanding Officer, providing information and referral services with regard to all of the resources available to you and to provide Deployment Support and Family Outreach.  I will also be planning family events, both social and educational, for all to enjoy.  Family Readiness has been brought to the forefront with this program, recognizing that it equips the service member and their family with the tools needed to be successful in meeting the many challenges of military life.

Family Readiness is our Commanding Officer’s program with the Family Readiness Officer as the facilitator of the CO’s vision and intent.  In carrying out the program, we continually need the support of volunteers within the unit.  There are a vast variety of volunteer opportunities that are available to all family members, near and far!  Engaging in some of the Family Readiness events and programs allows our families to connect and network; providing a much greater sense of unit cohesion and family support.  If you are interested in learning about our volunteer opportunities please contact me anytime.

Again, on behalf of the 2d Medical Battalion Family Readiness Command Team, I welcome you to the unit.  I can be reached at (910)451-0685 or on my cell phone anytime at (910)382-1257.  You may also email me at thomas.hawes@usmc.mil. I am proud to be a part of such an exciting change in Family Readiness and look forward to meeting and working with you in the future.

Sincerely,

Thomas D. Hawes
